There are two retreats covering 5 days and 4 nights, You can join us for one, or stay for the duration and just take some time to dip in and out of the activities as and when you like. If you stay for both retreats the night of the 23rd is complementary.
The retreat will run either from 4pm 19th August to 10am 23rd August or 4pm 24th August to 10am 28th August; or from the 4pm 19th August to 10am 24th August inclusive.
Camping Musetti Angela is within a stunning setting, perched on the mountains in a village called Grondola. This is a retreat meaning the campsite is away from it all and it is, there’s no shop or amenities within a few miles, which is why this retreat is fully catered and transport is included for your ease.
Camping Musetti Angela is around a 20 minute car journey from Pontremoli; Pontremoli is 1.5 hours from Pisa. Pisa is a great economical airport to fly to, you can book flights easily through easyJet or Ryanair.
On arrival at the airport simply walk to the Pisa Mover (monorail) you can buy your ticket from the machine at the Pisa Mover Station cash or card, go two stops and you arrive at Pisa centrale train station. From here go and buy a ticket to Pontremoli (10-15e) either from the ticket office or the red machines. Be aware you need to validate your ticket, once you have it, in the white machines validation machines (with green and red strip) around the platforms. Simply put your bar code end into the machine and wait for the second green light to come on.
You may have to change trains once. This is easy, but do ask the train guides, or you can google Pisa to Pontremoli and press the train option and it will give you all details easily.
The family camping holiday is being called a retreat as it is an ideal time for you to escape with your kids, away from the domesticity of life and really spend some quality time enjoying each other. (Whilst we still have them at this age!)
It really is a beautiful environment full of natural beauty. There are mountains and forests around; the views are lovely. The campsite is exceptional. The family have loved and maintained it wonderfully and it has something for everyone; tennis court with bats and balls, basketball hoop with ball, football pitch, forest adventure play area, children’s climbing frame, a trim trail for fitness lovers, warm large clean showers, washing machines, outside and inside dining areas and a fully equipped clean Kitchen to use if you wish.
It is festival time over the weekend of the 22nd to the 25th August with Pontremoli hosting the largest medieval festival in Italy, it is quite a spectacle with the whole town dressing its walls with cloth, the locals in medieval dress, public medieval displays, fire shows, parades, archery – it’s a real event. It would be great to get involved and wear fancy dress, so pop something suitable in your case. Be aware we will be eating out in the town this night, and the price is not included in the total.
You will probably be more than happy to hang out at the campsite with the kids freely playing and you reading a book! But there will be some organised activities too. We plan to paint some positivity rocks, have a tennis tournament, take a beautiful hike, make some authentic pizzas together, have a demonstration of traditional Testaroli cooking, enjoy storytelling and of course we will do some yoga, this yoga will be fun family yoga and relaxation yoga for mums.
There is no need to have any former experience, so if you have never done any before don’t worry, rest assured the kids normally love doing yoga with their mums, after all your complete divided attention is actually what they love the most, family yoga is great way of sharing a sense of adventure, exploration and fun together. Please be aware that yoga will be outdoors with no sun shelter, so it will be before 10am and after 5pm.
You can also choose to come to the Stretti di Giaredo gorge. An incredible natural wonder. Children over the age of 8 should have no problem walking the Gorge, but you can bring smaller children depending on your confidence and what they enjoy. You could bring a rubber ring or arm bands and maybe some rubber sea shoes. You could bring a wetsuit if you like, it’s cold water! If you want to come but don’t want to walk in the gorge waters you can stay and play by the pool. We will provide a packed lunch this day. The price for this is extra at around 25€ per person at time of writing. It is beautiful and an adventure never to forget. If it’s not for you there is a swimming pool relatively nearby we could take you to instead for a minimal price.
