We LOVE sharing real-life birth stories from our Orange Grove Clinic and YogaBumps mummies. Many congratulations to Maxine on the safe arrival of her beautiful baby daughter Ruby.
“I wanted to let you know just how grateful I am for your pregnancy yoga classes! I will be recommending them to anyone and everyone. My husband now goes around telling everyone I made it look easy!”
I did it!!! And it was so different, like you said!!
Ruby Elizabeth Lee arrived 41+2 weeks on the 27th at 5.20pm! She was 8lb!! (I don’t quite know where she was hiding!)
There’s very few people who know how traumatic my first labour was with my son 4 years ago but that was the reason for signing up to your classes. To say I was terrified of going through labour again was an understatement! But the more classes I came to the more I could feel my confidence building.
Contractions started a week before I actually gave birth, I had the midwives round the house and I was ready… four hours later nothing happened, contractions stopped and everyone went home again! I felt like a proper twit! (Apparently this can be normal with 2nd+ children)
So I waited…
A week later on Wednesday 27th, 5am I started to get the tightenings again, I wondered if this was going to be it. Nothing happened. Grrrr…
1pm they started up again and they were very suddenly close together, so I called the midwife and they muddled their shifts about so I could have the community midwife Cheryl who I’d seen my whole pregnancy! I was so lucky as she had seen my progress in my state of mind throughout the pregnancy and yoga classes and was really pro hypnobirthing and doing whatever feels right.
I must have walked around the house a million times determined not to let the contractions stop again! And soon enough I migrated to the bedroom and started ‘shaking the pear tree’ I was still fully in control and using the breathing techniques with the golden thread.
I soon started humming but still felt in full control. My husband sat quietly next to me rubbing my back when a wave came. The midwife then gently reminded me I still had my trousers on! it was a quick struggle to remove them between waves but then soon enough I felt the urge to push.
My waters popped and out Ruby came with them…
So after a 4 and a half hour labour baby Ruby arrived and I couldn’t believe it was all over! She was put on my chest and feeding within five minutes!
I wanted to let you know just how grateful I am for your pregnancy yoga classes! I will be recommending them to anyone and everyone! My husband now goes around telling everyone I made it look easy!
I hope all the other YogaBumpers have a truly great experience and hopefully I’ll bring Ruby along to some yogabubs classes too!
Thanks again Jackie, you really are a superstar!!
Maxine Lee xx
P.s. I got a ‘push present’ too!
